While we are open year round in our home culinary facility in Tepoztlan, some of our most popular weeks are special event weeks in Tepoztlan, Puebla, Cuetzalan and Sayulita. These are weeks that fall on a special holiday and offer special dishes and experiences that we do not offer in our regular week. As with all of our special weeks availability is VERY LIMITED and rooms tend to fill up fast. Make your reservation early to assure your space in the program.
La Feria del Huipil y Cafe (September 29 – October 6, 2015, Tepoztlan-Puebla-Cuetzalan). If you love Mexican culture, you can not miss this incredible festival and culinary experience. It has been described as one of the most beautiful celebrations of indigenous culture in Mexico. This festival is celebrated in the small town of Cuetzalan, Puebla where locals still use the white linen cloth such as the elaborately embroidered blouse called a “huipil.” A queen is crowned based upon her ability to construct this beautiful garment. On this trip we will start in Tepoztlan then go to Puebla for a walking/eating/talavera tour of the Historic Center. Then we are off to Cuetzalan to witness this incredible festival. Dia de Los Muertos (October 29-November 5, 2015 in Tepoztlan) This is one of the most popular weeks of the year. Known for its multiple celebrations, Muertos week is a celebration of the happy return of ancestors to pass time with the living. See the elaborate floral decorations in the cemetery, enjoy dancing and music in the town square, as well as seeing the local children with their green squash lanterns. Create a traditional altar with Chef Ana in the house and make an incredible variety of local dishes as well as see how the seasonal bread Pan de Muertos is made in wood burning ovens.
Mexican Thanksgiving Week on the Beach! (November 21-28, 2015) Yes, we know what you are thinking. Is there Thanksgiving in Mexico? At La Villa Bonita, Chef Ana has perfected the art of the Thanksgiving dinner. For those of you who want to escape the ordinary and enjoy tropical breezes in a fun surf town, but still want to enjoy one of the best Thanksgiving meals, we have the perfect solution — join us at La Villa Bonita Sayulita for our regular week of coastal week activities PLUS Chef Ana’s fabulous Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas Week (December 20-27, 2015) This is also one of our most popular weeks of the year. Celebrate Christmas with Old World Mexican style. Puebla New Year’s Week (December 27, 2015-January 3, 2016). Ring in the New Year with style in the picturesque village of Cuetzalan, Puebla. We start the week in Tepoztlan with cooking sessions dedicated to the indominable cuisine of Puebla. Then we are off to Puebla to see how Talavera tile is made, eat incredible Puebla delicacies and see the beauty of Colonial Puebla on Chef Ana’s walking/talking/eating tour.
