While we are one of the few culinary vacations open year-round, some of our most popular weeks are special event weeks. These are weeks that fall on a special holiday and offer special dishes and experiences that we do not offer in our regular week.
As with all of our special weeks availability is VERY LIMITED and rooms tend to fill up fast. Make your reservation early to assure your space in the program.
Dia de Los Muertos (October 29-November 5, 2014) This is one of the most popular weeks of the year. Known for its multiple celebrations, Muertos week is a celebration of the happy return of ancestors to pass time with the living. See the elaborate floral decorations in the cemetery, enjoy dancing and music in the town square, as well as seeing the local children with their green squash lanterns. Create a traditional altar with Chef Ana in the house and make an incredible variety of local dishes as well as see how the seasonal bread Pan de Muertos is made in wood burning ovens.
Mexican Thanksgiving Week (November 23-30, 2014) Yes, we know what you are thinking. Is there Thanksgiving in Mexico? At La Villa Bonita, Chef Ana has perfected the art of the Thanksgiving dinner. Coastal Weeks in Sayulita (November 30-December 7, December 7-14, 2014) Special all-inclusive coastal weeks in the tranquil surf village of Sayulita. Christmas Week (December 21-28, 2014) This is also one of our most popular weeks of the year. Celebrate Christmas with Old World Mexican style. Join Chef Ana and her extended family for a Christmas full of tradition. Attend mass at one of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas. Learn traditional dishes such as roasted pork leg in adobo sauce, romeritos and bacalao a la vizcaina. Christmas without the cold. What could be better?
New Year’s Week (December 28, 2014-January 4, 2015) Ring in the New Year with style with La Santa Rumba (a fabulous local group of conservatory musicians who play salsa, rumba and merengue). Enjoy New Years Day with a family celebration of traditional dishes. See the fireworks display right from our elevated terrace with a 360 degree view of the mountains.
